We leave on July 10th.  This will be a fairly long day, about 460 Miles to Flagstaff. We have plenty of stops on the way. We will be taking old route 66 out of Kingman to Peachtree and Seligman, stop at the Grand Canyon caverns etc  The rest of the trip will not be anywhere near that many miles.

There is an “Overview Map” which shows the area of our trip. This is not a military convoy so we are flexible and do not all need to stay in the same hotels. However, the first day covers the most miles of any day on the whole trip and because Flagstaff is spread out over a large area my guess is most people after the long ride will want to just unwind, get something to eat and get to sleep pretty fast, we reserved a block of rooms at the Days Inn just west of town, a really easy on/off to the interstate. The only other block of rooms reserved is in Torrey Utah at the Wonderland Inn. This is a small family owned place and sits on top of a hill and has great views, there are only 24 rooms and we have ten of them.  Expect the casinos' to be pretty Smokey.

After having a fun 4 days in Durango we want to make the return trip as scenic and enjoyable as possible without the rush of trying to get a lot of miles in. The southern Utah area contains some of the most scenic riding you will ever see short of going to Glacier Nat'l Monument.  We will break up the return trip into two legs so no leg is longer that 330 miles, which is a relative piece of cake during the long summer days. Our thoughts are to come back by Cortez just west of Durango and then head northeast. We will make two overnight stops, the first night will be in Torrey Utah which is only 316 miles and the next night will be in Mesquite Nevada, between Vegas and St George, about 297 miles. Then we will head straight home, about 335 miles. This will allow us to go through Capital Reef Nat'l Park, Natural Bridges Park, Bryce Canyon and Zion Nat'l Park which cuts thru the mountains. The mileage will be low enough to allow a lot of stops for pictures, video's etc.
